Sandy started out as an experiment to see what it would be like to embed something in enamel. I decided on coarse sand, straight from a potted cactus. I filtered out the sand, leaving only small gravel (mostly quartz), and covered it in yellow and blue transparent enamel, on a base coat of deep transparent purple. Then I added a spinning, raw Citrine nugget on a bronze spindle. Photos 1 & 2 show the nugget in different rotations.
The 1-1/2-in. x 2-in. pendant hangs from an 20-inch faux-leather cord, with custom, sterling silver end-caps and hook-and-eye clasp.
