Before I starting working with enamel, I experimented with other ways of getting color into my work. These critters were sawed from copper sheet and painted with Acrylin, an enamel-like paint that bakes in an ordinary oven to become rock-hard, even more durable than enamel (which is of course made of glass).
The figures were affixed to 16- and 18-in. black steel cable neck rings, and are held in position by sterling crimps. The necklace is finished with a handmade, sterling silver clasp.
