Jersey Shore

A departure for me; I generally don't design a piece around a stone. But I found this nice oval piece of Muscovite (Mica) washed up on the beach and the sparkles were so brilliant in the sun, I knew I had to feature it. You don't often find Muscovite that's suitable for jewelry. I then designed an enameled setting for it that would resemble the inside of a mussel shell.

By then it was clear this had to be a Statement Necklace, so I added tiny Labradorite beads (beautiful, but so hard to photograph), and frosted and carved clear Quartz beads, strung on a double-strand steel cable, with handmade sterling silver clasp. Total length: almost 24 inches; pendant: 2 x 2-1/2 inches
