Hanging With Frida Blue

On our last trip to Rosarito, I was inspired to pay tribute to the simple exuberance of the Mexican crafts aesthetic. This was the first in a series of 4 necklaces. This one was also inspired by an exhibit at the Bronx Botanical Gardens that consisted of a partial reproduction of Frida and Diego's Casa Azul. Frida's favorite blue color was in abundance, so I incorporated it here, along with the pinks and golds so often seen in Mexican decor.

The three pendants are both transparent and opaque enamel, on 20-ga. copper, joined by bronze wires that feature Smoky Quartz beads. They hang from a choker-length, braided leather cord, with handmade bronze end caps and clasp.
